Dogs are attention hoggers. They will certainly do almost everything to get their humans and even strangers to notice them. After all, these critters are conditioned to be friendly.
With that in mind, it’s only natural that they will get jealous, especially if their owner dotes on another pet in the household. If you want some proof, this story will give you just that. A viral video shows a Chihuahua being grumpy after his cat sibling commands the attention of their owner. Well, Chihuahuas are known to be moody, but it seems that they display a different kind of crankiness when they’re jealous.
The jealous pup
In a 27-second clip uploaded online by a Russian woman named Elena Shatrabaeva, you could see a Chihuahua and a cat lounging together on the bed. Elena started petting the ginger cat, but it seemed that her gesture didn’t sit well with the tiny dog.
Showing his jealousy, the Chihuahua started making aggressive sounds. And every time Elena tried to approach the cat, the dog would make his displeasure obvious. On the other hand, the cat seemed so nonchalant about what was happening. She even threw her paws up into the air, probably asking Elena for more belly rubs.
The internet is amused
The funny video was picked up by various media outlets online particularly by New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV). On NDTV’s YouTube channel, the clip has received more than 19K views and a handful of lighthearted comments.
One noted that the dog wasn’t jealous; he was just telling Elena not to touch his so-called girlfriend. Another commented that he/she loved how the cat was ready to punch the Chihuahua in the face because she probably thought that the dog was growling at her. Finally, one YouTube user thanked NDTV for sharing the clip, saying that it was important to forget things once in a while.
