When a dog goes missing for a very long time, its chances of returning home are slim.
Wisconsin denizen Barney Lattimore knew that well. He almost believed that his pup Ginger was lost forever. However, life has decided to offer him an unforgettable miracle.
After five years of being Missing, Ginger has finally reunited with her family. And her homecoming was so heartwarming, as she immediately recognized her beloved humans.
Read Ginger’s story below.
The day Ginger went missing
Ginger, a white-and-tan pup, went missing back in 2017 after she was stolen from her home. Lattimore immediately kept a vigilant and persistent search for his dog but to no avail.
The days of not having Ginger around stretched into months and then years. Lattimore and his family became bigger over that time. He welcomed a new baby and even new dogs into his home. Despite that, he still believed that Ginger was just out there.
Every time Lattimore noticed a dog that looked a little like Ginger, he would inspect it closely, hoping it was his beloved pup. That was how persistent and optimistic he was.
Ginger returns home!
The Beloit Police Department shared online a picture of a dog whose features matched Ginger’s description. This pooch was found roaming the streets of a neighborhood that was 13 miles away from where she lived.
Fortunately, Lattimore saw the photo. With a renewed hope, he immediately contacted the police department and learned that the dog was transferred to the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin.
Together with his family, Lattimore drove to the shelter to confirm if the dog he saw online was really Ginger. And it was indeed Ginger!
The excitement on Ginger’s face upon seeing Lattimore proved that she recognized her owner. She was ready to return home.
Now that Ginger’s back where she’s supposed to be, Lattimore and his family are excited to make up for the lost time with their beloved pup.
