This Dog, Who Used To Like Hunting Small Creatures, Eventually Learned How To Improve And Be A Better Doggo

Some stray dogs have a strong prey drive, which makes them often go after animals that are smaller than them. This type of dog is frequently problematic. And this story vividly shows what it is like to care for such a dog.

This story focuses on a Jindo named Cream. He was originally a wanderer that roamed the mountainside freely. One day, a guy decided to save him by giving him food and shelter.

Cream quickly adjusted to a domestic life. However, there was one negative behavior he could not give up. Every time he encountered a little animal, he would pursue it and attempt to harm it. Since being rescued, Cream has reportedly hurt over four chicks, per his owner.

The owner had no idea how to resolve the issue, so he sought assistance from other individuals. First, he tried to place the dog in a safe enclosure. Afterward, a trainer named Chan Jong arrived to assist Cream with his training.

According to the trainer, Cream’s heightened prey drive is quite natural. He was accustomed to living independently and had been accustomed to his independence. However, that did not mean that he was a hopeless case. The dog can still be taught basic obedience.

The first step of training consisted of walking Cream using a leash. The dog was also taken to an agility course so that his pent-up energy could be released. These exercises were designed to tire out the dog and reduce its desire to chase tiny animals.

Cream was placed in the same location as another tiny dog following the training. It was a test to determine whether he would pursue or just ignore the animal. Fortunately, Cream never responded to the barking of the small dog. He was too exhausted to be aggressive, indicating that the training was successful.

I have to be honest here, I have not always loved dogs. When I was a child, all I was taught was how dogs can bite people, but not how helpful they can be. After getting my daughter a puppy, Roscoe, I learned how loving and loyal dogs are. My appreciation and love for dogs have grown over the years, and I enjoy sharing feel-good dog stories. I hope you enjoy my blog:)
