A year ago, a woman named Johanna Handley and her daughter were returning home from the mall in Doha, Qatar when they passed by a desert and saw two dogs with collars on. Johanna, curious as to why such dogs were present in the area, investigated and discovered that they had been abandoned, together with their puppies.
The puppies were barely two months old at that time and clearly still needed help. So without much thought, Johanna brought them home with her to foster until she could find permanent homes for them. Eventually, with the help of volunteers and donations, she was able to fly nearly all of them to the USA, where they finally joined their new families.
One of the puppies was named Alan and he had a different story. He was sadly born with a defect that caused his nose and mouth to grow in opposite directions, resulting in a crooked face. When Johanna first encountered Alan in the desert, she immediately sensed that he was unique and she also found him attractive.
Johanna chose to adopt Alan instead of rehoming him. However, not everyone accepted Alan for who he truly was. Numerous individuals approached Johanna and offered to pay for the dog’s reconstructive surgery, but Johanna stated that it was unnecessary.
When she first took Alan to the veterinarian, the physicians assured her that he was perfectly healthy and would experience no future issues. As they would have to completely straighten his face, the surgery may cause him more agony than expected.
Johanna created a TikTok account for Alan so he could show the world how perfect he is despite his odd appearance. There, she would often share videos of him showcasing his kind and affectionate nature. The account has amassed nearly 200,000 followers, all of whom have showered Alan with wonderful comments and reactions.
