Just a couple of months ago, This Is Houston, a Texas-based organization focused on rescuing dogs that are going to be euthanized, was alerted that there was an injured and paralyzed dog in Cleveland. The shelter staff immediately traveled to the area to assess the situation. When they arrived, they did find the reported dog and two other dogs so they had to rescue a total of three.
This Is Houston took in the white dog, Olly, the other one was transported into another rescue while the Siberian Husky, Bella, was picked up by a foster and former adopter of the organization who ended up adopting her.
When Olly arrived at the shelter, the staff found out that he had been hit by a car and was left untreated. Not only that but he was also shot at one point in his life and the pellet was still lodged at his hip. This was the reality for most innocent dogs in Cleveland and so the staff was heartbroken but not totally surprised. Then, upon further evaluation, it was noted that Olly may never regain his ability to walk.
But for Olly, it’s okay and he is adjusting well to his new set-up. He is also getting his second chance in life to really be a dog, have fun, and feel the warmth of love and care.
Later on, This Is Houston found out that Olly and Bella actually lived in the same house and were both abandoned by their owners when they moved. And so, they arranged for the two dogs to meet each other again. Fast-forward to the day that they were reunited, Olly and Bella immediately recognized each other. Olly actually had no interest in other dogs before but when Bella came, he scooted so fast towards her.
Olly is recovering well and he also has a family lined up to adopt him who will soon pick him up.
