Daisy first showed up at North Central Fire Protection District Station 58 in Fresno, California looking like a mess. She was extremely dehydrated and skinny with her skin full of fleas. And she really smelled bad. Workers at the fire station figured she was abandoned or a stray who had been living in the streets for quite some time.
The firefighters waited for her to leave but she didn’t. For a week, she camped out at the back of the station sleeping on the doormat. And she would come and greet them whenever they would leave for their calls even though she felt weak.
After some time, it then became a routine and the firefighters also enjoyed seeing her around. She would come to the front of the station and watch them leave as the fire engine pulled out. That was when they realized that they needed to help her find her forever home.
A relative of the captain agreed to foster Daisy for a few months while they find someone who would adopt her. But due to her medical issues, it was difficult to find one. This led Daisy to The Wagmor Hotel and Pet Spa in Los Angeles, a luxury pet hotel and adoption agency.
When owner Melissa Bacelar saw her, she knew she had to get her to the vet for treatments. They helped nurse Daisy back to health and while she slowly recovered, they put up photos of her on the page for adoption. She earned fans through her story but no one wanted to really adopt her. And then Melissa received a text from singer Miley Cyrus telling her she was obsessed with Daisy.
Miley had recently adopted a puppy so she asked instead if she could bring Daisy to the set of her music video in hopes of getting someone to adopt her. And that was the start of the bond between Miley and Daisy. The next time, she asked to keep her for a weekend which turned to a week then a month.
She helped Daisy get back on her feet, visiting a couple of specialists and changing her diet and medications as well. She also still kept reaching out to family and friends if they were interested in adopting Daisy. Then she realized that the dog had found a home with her. And so she finally adopted Daisy and renamed her Kate Moss.
Kate now lives life like royalty. From the streets to a doormat at the fire station, she now enjoys sleeping in Louis Vuitton sheets with her new mom Miley.
